Компания iRacing.com, в преддверии очередного обновления своего онлайнового симулятора, которое состоится уже в апреле, выпустила обширное видео, всецело посвященное предстоящей премьере в сервисе iRacing первого автомобиля марки BMW – BMW Z4 GT3.

В выпуске iRacingTV на примере BMW Z4 GT3 демонстрируется закулисье процесса создания автомобилей в iRacing. Весь процесс начинается с инженерных работ по сбору данных, последующим моделированием и заканчивается детальной работой над физикой и динамикой автомобиля, а так же моделируется работа различных отдельных узлов – тормозной системы, трансмиссии и т.д.

Так же в видео представлен новый сотрудник компании iRacing.com, инженер по динамике автомобилей – Крис Лерч (Chris Lerch), который занимается физикой BMW Z4 GT3. В течение 16 лет Крис работал с гоночными командами Formula 1, IndyCar, Champ Car, Formula Atlantic, ALMS, Grand-Am. А последние 11 лет он был гоночным инженером, в этой роли Крис отвечал за развитие автомобилей, что включало в себя безопасность, функциональность, надежность, настройку автомобилей и планирование гоночной стратегии. Первым проектом в качестве сотрудника iRacing.com для Криса является работа над автомобилем BMW Z4 GT3.

Ну и еще в качестве нового контента в апрельском обновлении iRacing ожидается выпуск трассы «Америк» (Circuit of the Americas), которая будет представлена в трех конфигурациях – Grand Prix, East, West.

General:
– – A Close button has been added to the iRacing BETA Interface splash screen.
– – New backgrounds have been added to the iRacing BETA Interface splash screen.
AI Races:
– – The Global Mazda MX-5 Cup car is now available for AI Races!
– – – Multi-Class racing is now possible, however, we are still working out a few kinks. For example, AI Opponents will not currently grid or score by car class correctly.
– – AI Driver attributes are now set immediately upon a Roster being saved, and the interface has been updated to explain in more detail how attribute values are assigned.
– – The Saved Opponent Rosters window now shows if a Roster is used in an AI Season.
– – There is now a warning displayed when a user sets a field of AI opponents to more than 40, due to potential system strain.
Race Control
Fixed an issue where a race start at a track where the pace field has to go very slowly through a tight chicane or hairpin moments before getting the green flag, such as Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps, could cause race control to get stuck and never throw the green.
AI Races
The Global Mazda MX-5 Cup car is now available for AI Races!
AI Incidents are now recorded.
AI Driver adjustments:
– – Understeer handling has been adjusted slightly.
AI Car adjustments:
– – Convective tire cooling has been adjusted.
– – Tire load sensitivity has been improved.
– – Tire grip has been adjusted slightly.
– – Long slip stiffness has been adjusted.
– – The likelihood of rolling due to curb strikes has been reduced.
– – Tire grip for the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup (991) has been reduced slightly.
AI Track adjustments:
– – Performance at Lime Rock Park should be slightly improved.
-AI bug fixes:
– – Fixed an issue where AI vehicle tires were not always cold at the beginning of a Session.
New Damage Model
Car bodies are now reset when they first enter their pit stall, which should fix any hyper extension of suspension. This adjustment introduces the possibility for a visual “pop effect”, as the body is reset to initial position.
Incident thresholds for minor track strikes such as normal curbs, and some bottoming have been increased. Drivers should now only receive 0X Incidents for hard curb strikes while using the New Damage Model.
– – Incident thresholds for New Damage Model and Classic Damage Model have been separated to allow for higher fidelity.
Fixed an issue where opponent vehicles could appear to quickly repair themselves during a crashing event.
– – Now, opponent vehicles may only appear to take additional damage for the duration of a crash event, and if the apparent damage taken ends up being inaccurate, they will be repaired only after the crash event is complete.
Penalties
A flat tire is now considered car damage, and race control issues a Black Flag (Meatball) for repair to cars running with one or more flat tires.
Pit Stop
Whenever a car has a flat tire, the pit crew will automatically prepare to change all four wheels at the next pit stop. A driver may override this if they desire.
Rendering
Fixed an issue where some grasses and asphalt could appear excessively shiny at night.
Lighting
Fixed an issue with car headlights casting on dirt tracks.
Paint Shop
Several missing iRacing Club logos have been added, including Japan, Mexico, and South Africa.

Cadillac CTS-V Racecar – Fixed an issue where custom specular maps were not functioning correctly on this car.
Dallara F3 – Damage yield limits for the chassis and floor have been increased to reduce damage from minor ground strikes.
Ferrari 488 GT3 – 2020 Season 1 GT3 BoP Adjustment: Aero drag has been increased slightly.
Formula Renault 2.0 – Level of Detail settings (LoDs) have been adjusted to improve SIM performance and reduce visual popping as the camera changes distances from this vehicle, particularly in Replay mode.
Global Mazda MX-5 – Shift lights have been marked to new 7500 redline. – – Baseline setup has been updated with the rear anti-roll bar unhooked.
Mercedes-AMG GT3 – – 2020 Season 1 GT3 BoP Adjustment: Engine torque has been reduced slightly.
NASCAR Gander Outdoors Chevrolet Silverado – – Gear limits have been removed for racing at The Milwaukee Mile.

iRacing BETA Interface – (03.02.12-beta)
Users may now set their preferred system of measurement (Metric or English) in the Settings section of the iRacing BETA Interface. This setting persists between the iRacing BETA Interface and the iRacing Simulator garage.
Recent Results are now sorted by “Most Recent” by default.
Additional details have been added to the Update interface.
A failure status will now be displayed if the iRacing BETA Interface loses its connection.
Fixed a few issues with the Series interface including:
– – The Test Drive button is now functional if the track is unowned; however, the user must still own the track to launch the Test Drive Session.
– – The Watch button now correctly launches the Simulator.
Fixed a few issues with Leagues including:
– – Users may no longer Favorite Leagues of which they are not a member.
– – The sorting and filtering of Leagues have been updated.
The iRating of Rookie License drivers is now correctly hidden in the iRacing BETA Interface.
Fixed an issue where some Profile fields were not being properly displayed.
Addressed several issues with Notifications including:
– – The correct time is now displayed on notifications.
– – The “Close” button is no longer drawn over notifications.
– – Notifications are now properly cleared when dismissed.

The Skip Barber Formula 2000 has been enabled for AI Races!

– – Hazard avoidance driving
– – Caution lap spacing
– – Pit lane driving

Fixed a variety of issues with AI Driver behavior, including:
– – AI Drivers could sometimes drive through the pace car when a lap down.
– – AI Drivers who got physically stuck failed to reset themselves.
– – AI Drivers should no longer forget to pit on the first Caution lap if needed.
– – AI Drivers should no longer attempt to continue racing with severe engine damage.
V7 Tires
Adjustments to tire heat and tread effectiveness have been made to opponent vehicles for greater accuracy.
Dynamic Track
The effect of the atmosphere on the amount of solar energy hitting the surface of the earth has been adjusted. This change reduces track temperatures, especially when the sun is at a moderate angle.
– – On average, track surfaces are about 2-3° Celsius cooler. This varies depending on the season, time of day, and latitude.
Pit Stop
Fixed a temporary bouncing issue that could occur when a vehicle enters a pit stall.
Virtual Reality
A new option, “TwoStageAA” has been added to both the “[Oculus Rift]” and “[OpenVR]” sections of the “RendererDX11.ini” file.
– – When enabled (default), anti-aliasing is run on the user interface elements (and runs the second pass of anti-aliasing on the scene after all of the post-processing effects are run).
– – – This option can be taxing on performance; disable this option if you are low on resources for VR.
Cars:
BMW M8 GTE

For custom paint schemes, the windshield banners and rear wing logos are now always visible per BMW’s request.

i Racing BETA Interface - (03.02.14-beta)

- The iRacing BETA Interface splash screen has been updated with a "Reconnect" button when iRacing is unable to connect to servers. The splash screen will also now automatically advance to the iRacing BETA Interface once maintenance is complete if a user has arrived at it during maintenance.

- The default Restart type for AI Races has been changed to Double File Back.
- - Please note, if you select to create a Single AI Race using your Last Settings, the previous default Restart type was Double File Inside.

- - AI Drivers could repeatedly miss their pit stall and then panic, behaving erratically.
- - AI Drivers could rear-end other vehicles when the Caution flag was thrown.
- - AI Drivers could sometimes needlessly wait behind other vehicles when preparing to enter the pits.

- Fixed an issue during post-race where the AI Race Session could crash if an AI Driver missed it's pit stall.

Cautions
- A new caution mode has been added: Full-Course Cautions where Caution Laps Do Not Count as Race Laps (DNC Cautions).
- - This caution mode is modeled after short-track oval racing, where laps under caution are not counted, though it is not intended to exactly mirror any particular series' set of rules.
- - DNC Cautions functions as follows:
- - - At the instant the caution flag is flown, the field ordering is determined (there is no racing back to the line). One goal is to roll-back scoring to the prior completed lap, thus undoing any passing that might have occurred during the lap that brings out the caution. This is accomplished as follows:
- - - - The lead contender on track and all cars on track behind them to the S/F line are reordered as to their most recent lap crossing. Laps are no longer scored for this set of cars until the green flag following the caution period.
- - - - The cars on track behind the S/F line backwards to the lead contender on track are reordered as to their most recent lap crossing, and placed behind the other group. These cars will have their next lap crossing under caution scored, thus preventing them from going a lap-down. A disabled car that does not make it back to the line will not be awarded this lap. These laps will be scored so as to preserve how they are sorted into the pace field. Subsequent laps for these cars while under caution are not scored.
- - - - Any cars not on track when the caution flies will be placed at the back of the field when they exit the pits, and will not have any laps scored during the caution period.
- - - If the selected restart setting (single file, double file, etc.) indicates that lapped cars are to go to the back of the field for the restart, and lapped cars will not get a wave-around to un-lap themselves as the caution is ending, then lapped cars will be placed into the initial pace order behind cars that are on the lead lap. Since laps under caution are not being scored, these cars will be directed to fall-back behind the lead lap cars, as opposed to passing the pace car to catch up to the end of the field. When nearing the end of the caution period, lapped cars that have become co-mingled with lead lap cars due to pitting will again be directed to fall-back and let the lead lap cars by.
- - With this new caution mode enabled, fuel is NOT consumed during these potential extra laps.

- For creating a Hosted Session via the iRacing BETA Interface, the DNC Cautions option may be found at the bottom of the "Track Options" step.
- - The option, "Automatic Full Course Yellows" must first be enabled in order to enable DNC Cautions.
- - - This Race Option has also been added to Heat Racing configurations for any Heat Races in the race weekend.

- For creating a Hosted Session via the Classic Membersite, the old caution selection dropdown has been replaced with two new checkboxes for Automatic Full-Course Cautions, and for enabling Lucky Dog rule.
- - The new setting to enabled DNC Cautions may be found in the CAUTIONS section.
- - The setting to restart single file when one caution is followed immediately by another caution is in the RESTARTS section.

- The chat message identifying which type of restart a Caution is to use has been updated.

Rendering
- Fixed an issue where the environment map was applied to materials rendered inside cockpit mirrors in an incorrect color space, which resulted in sky reflections rendering much too bright in mirrors and an extreme bloom effect on mirrors.

- Fixed an issue where the sky could be rendered in an incorrect color space.

Visual Effects
- Fixed an issue where solar flares were sometimes missing or the wrong color.

Weather
- Wind calculations have been updated to prevent relatively predictable cycles and patterns that could sometimes occur.

- The prevailing winds direction computations have been updated.
- - This fixes an issue when using "Generate Weather" where the average wind direction may have been incorrect at some tracks.

Clubs
- The Club Japan logo has been updated.

CARS:

- Transmission rev match and downshift blip parameters have been updated.

- Fixed an issue with the BMW logo on the wing.

Custom Grid Builder

– A new feature, the Custom Grid Builder, has been added to the iRacing BETA Interface!
– – The Custom Grid Builder is only available for Hosted League Sessions using the “Practice + Race” event type that are created through the iRacing BETA Interface.
– – If the event requirements are met, the button to open the Grid Builder is accessible via the Track Options step of Create a Race (it is a blue button next to the Track Options header). Or, if you click this button, your Hosted Session will be converted to a “Practice + Race” event type.
– – – When building a Custom Grid, you can choose a League Roster or a past League Session from which to pull participants for the event.
– – – There are several methods available for auto-building and sorting the Custom Grid using the event participants, such as Sequential, Top 10, Name, and iRating.
– – – There is also support for importing the results of past Team Sessions for previous League Seasons.
– – – Once added to the Custom Grid area, each driver can be dragged around to change positions, and each driver features a detailed mouse-over tooltip to help you organize your grid. AI Races

– The AI Races section of the iRacing BETA Interface has received an upgrade!

– The Seasons page remains very similar to what existed for AI Races previously. You can view, edit, and run your saved AI Seasons. You can use the buttons on this page to start a Single AI Race, or Create an AI Season.

– The Opponent Rosters page is a brand new way for you to manage, view, and create AI Opponent Rosters.
– – You can sort and filter your Opponent Rosters for viewing ease. Clicking on an Opponent Roster allows you to view or edit it. You can use the buttons on this page to start a Single AI Race, or Create a Roster.

– The workflow for Create a Roster has been updated and consolidated to better correlate to the Create a Race Wizard.
– – First, name your Opponent Roster and decide how many of which cars, and/or car classes you want to include. You can easily change the car number or name of the AI Drivers, and you can add, remove, copy, and drag entrants around to adjust your Opponent Roster quickly.
– – Next, click the dropdown arrow for each AI Driver to customize their Driver Attributes, Paint Car, Helmet & Suit, or Swap Car.

– The Teams section of the iRacing BETA Interface has received a top-to-bottom code revision which optimizes the performance, fixes a variety of issues, and adds some functionality that was not correctly carried over from the Classic Membersite.

– New Teams Features:
– – Team owners may now transfer team ownership to a team member if desired.
– – Team search results are now paginated, instead of one long list.
– – Team search results now display different buttons based on your status with that team.
– – When viewing the modal window for an unjoined team, the Apply, Accept Invite, and Cancel Application buttons are now in a new banner area.
– – When registering a Team for Team Sessions, the registration modal will now attempt to load the correct Team Paint when using a Team that has Team Paints for the selected car.

– Fixes for Teams:
– – The Team registration modal window should no longer hide the ability to register a new Team if another team member has already registered one of their Teams.
– – The Teams page no longer has an empty “Tags” filter.
– – You may no longer apply for Teams for which you are already a member.
– – You may no longer invite members who are already in the Team.
– – Declining a Team invitation now always removes the Team for your Invited Teams list.

Paint Shop

Friends

– Resolved an issue where you could not Spectate a Friend who was in a Session for which you could not register.

Downloader

– The Downloader will now preselect only the Car(s) and/or Track(s) that are Required when initially opening the Downloader.

iRACING MEMBERSITE:

– Fixed an issue where Spotters could not register for a Session if there were no available Spectator slots.

– Fixed an issue where Team members who were not license eligible for a Session were only able to Spectate. They may now join the Team in the Session but will be forced into the Spotter role so they can not drive.

iRACING SIMULATOR:

Team Events

– Fixed a bug that could cause a user’s license info (SR and iRating) to not be updated after an Official Team Racing Session.
– – This could happen when a user was a member of multiple teams that registered for the session. The race server was properly computing the license updates, but if it computed the license changes for a team on which a user did not participate after computing the license changes for a team on which a user did participate, it would overwrite the user’s changes as “none”.

– Fixed an issue with registering for Team Racing sessions, and how a team’s members get assigned into Open Practice servers.
– – When you register for an iRacing-scheduled Race event far enough in advance, the system internally assigns you to an Open Practice server that is part of the same Race Series. There was an issue in how this was being done for Team racing events that could sometimes cause members of the same team to be assigned into different practice servers. The intent is that all the team’s members should be put into the same Open Practice server. These “other” practice servers were not being properly set up to receive the registrations for the team members, and were rejecting the registrations.

AI Races

– – AI Drivers should now avoid using brakes on suitable ovals, relying instead on just lifting.
– – AI Drivers overall behavior at Superspeedways has been improved.
– – AI Drivers have improved their understeer driving.
– – AI Drivers have received additional training for exiting pit stalls.

– The following adjustments have been made to AI Vehicles:
– – Tire degradation algorithms have been optimized.
– – Wheel grip changes from tire curing have been reduced slightly.
– – The algorithm for brake heat calculations has been adjusted.

– When running an AI event, the Simulation will now wait for you to exit the car before transitioning from one Session type to the next.
– – The Session should run for up to 10 minutes if you remain in the car. Once you exit the vehicle, the Session type advances immediately.

– AI Rosters now support custom specular maps for car paints.

– Fixed an issue where the “Disable Car Damage” option was not functioning for AI Races.

– Fixed an issue that could prevent you from getting to the “Grid” button if you went into the garage just as the Race Session was starting.

Race Control

– The Do Not Count (DNC) Caution laps feature has been re-enabled!
– – Fixed a bug relating to DNC Cautions that was causing two-lap timing problems:
– – – At the start of road course races where the pace car crossed the finish timing line before the race went green, cars that had not yet crossed the finish timing line were incorrectly having an immediate first lap crossing scored. This was most easily seen at F1-style tracks where the start line is much further down than the finish line, so it was highly likely the pace car would have crossed the finish timing line before the race went green.
– – – During races with regular Cautions, if a new Caution was triggered right as a previous Caution or start goes green before the leaders reached the start/finish line, cars in the pits would not get their laps counted.

– Fixed a bug that could cause a Race Server to crash under certain circumstances when Do Not Count (DNC) Caution laps were enabled.

– Fixed an issue that was causing Race Sessions with DNC Cautions enabled to not finish if a Caution came out very late in the Session, or if the Session used a rolling start with a very low lap limit for the Session.

– Implemented some measures to prevent users from unrealistically enhancing their tires’ performance during Qualifying sessions.

New Damage Model

– The New Damage Model has been enabled on the following vehicles:

– A new scrape system has been integrated into the New Damage Model!
– – This system simulates wear and damage caused by scraping materials, such as a car fender dragging along an Armco, or a glancing blow between two vehicles. The system takes into account the material types of the touching bodies as well as paint or other coverings.
– – – Please note, this new scrape system is not yet active on the Dallara F3, but all other vehicles that have the New Damage Model enabled will display the scrape system.

– Adjustments have been made to how damage states influence car aerodynamics.

– Adjustments have been made to how damaged wheels react to pit stop repairs, and how they are tethered to vehicles.

– Fixed an issue where some collision events were incorrectly being filtered out.

Time of Day

– Fixed an issue where flags would fall asleep at nighttime and cease to obey the wind.

Weather

– New optional parameters are now available in the iRacing BETA Interface for events created using Specific Weather known as Guided Weather!
– – These parameters control the initial and ongoing variability from the specified weather conditions. These are displayed as percentages where 0 means no additional variability, and 100 is maximum variability. This allows some deviation from the specified weather conditions to occur, but at an amount that is customizable.
– – – The parameters that control Guided Weather are as follows:
– – – – Initial Variability: A setting of 0 yields weather that matches the specified weather at the start of the event. A setting of 100 allows for the maximum shift from the specified weather conditions at the start of the event. You can think of this setting as a measure of how unpredictable the weather is going to be from what is forecast (ie: what you have specified).
– – – – Ongoing Variability: A setting of 0 yields weather that naturally changes very little from the specified weather throughout the entirety of the event. A setting of 100 will allow the weather to change similarly to what you would expect using a realistic weather pattern for the track, or how the “Generate Weather” option already functions.
– – Guided Weather is also available for Hosted Sessions created through the Classic Membersite.

– The prevailing winds direction computations have been updated for clouds.
– – Clouds will now move in the same direction as the Simulation’s wind.

Rendering

– New graphics options have been added to allow limiting the maximum number of cars and pit objects rendered in the main view and in mirrors.
– – Reducing the number of objects rendered can improve frame rate when racing with large fields. These settings may be set independently between the main camera and Replays.
– – These settings are located on the “Graphics” and “Replay” tabs of the Options screen, as new drop-down lists of presets of combinations of the limits.
– – – These presets control the following settings inside the “RendererDX11.ini” file:

– – Please note that the pre-existing options, “Max Cars”, specify the requested number of cars to be transmitted to your client from the race server. These new rendering settings are separate, and indicate which of those cars are to be rendered. Only the cars transmitted to your local client will be available in your session and your replay. So, for best results, set the “Max Cars” setting as large as your connection can handle, so your client has transmitted data for as many cars as possible in the event, and then limit how many are rendered at any one time using the new “MaxCarsToDraw” settings.

– The amount of reflective sparkles seen on car bodies from headlights and stadiums lights at night has been reduced slightly.

– HDR frame buffers are now enabled by default when using the “Class 1” Graphics config.

– Fixed an issue where a glowing tire could sometimes be seen during pit stops.

Dynamic Level of Detail System

– The Dynamic Level of Detail (LOD) System has been replaced with an improved system.
– – LODs adjust the complexity of the objects in the world as the camera changes the distance from the objects in order to optimize appearance and performance.

– When the Dynamic Level of Detail system is enabled, you specify a minimum acceptable (target) frame rate (FPS), and the Simulator will automatically adjust the LOD selection to maximize quality while helping your PC better maintain the target frame rate. For instance, if the actual frame rate falls below the target frame rate, the system will automatically reduce the LODs of the cars, characters, track-side objects, pit area objects, track surfaces, walls, and fences to improve your frame rate. Conversely, if the frame rate increases beyond the target frame rate, the system automatically increases the Level of Detail to improve the visual quality of everything in the world. The overall result is a much-improved frame rate at the most visually intense spots on track, and a much improved visual quality whenever the frame rate is more than acceptable. The system is highly configurable and is setup with recommended values by default.

– The new settings for Dynamic Level of Detail can be found on the Options screen. The settings on the Graphics tab adjust the LODs behavior for when the camera is in the car, and the settings on the Replay tab adjust the LODs behavior for when the camera is outside of the car. The settings are as follows:
– – “Dynamic LOD FPS” Target:
– – – This is the primary value for this system, your minimum acceptable frame rate. For instance, if you are using a VR headset running at 90Hz, try setting this value to 90. Or, if you are using VSYNC, try setting this value to the VSYNC refresh rate or just above it. If you are streaming iRacing at 60Hz, try setting this value to 60. Generally, you want to set the target to a low frame rate, the bare minimum you want to maintain, such as 60, 75, or maybe as high as 90 or more for VR. If you set this value very high, and your PC cannot run that fast, it will cause the detail to become very low. In which case, you may want to reduce other settings to help improve FPS and the resulting quality.
– – “Dynamic LOD Cars” and “Dynamic LOD World”:
– – – Each of these settings are drop-down lists of presets that will set the Dynamic LOD limits for you. They range from “Max Dynamic” to “Off”. Setting these both to “Off” disables the Dynamic LOD system completely. The “Cars” drop list affects the dynamic objects, such as cars, pit crews, loose car parts, flying cones, etc. The “World” drop down list affects grandstands, trees, buildings, light poles, track surface, etc. The “+/- max” is the best setting to start with, it allows the full range of LOD adjustment, from the lowest to the highest. Other presets reduce the range that the LODs may be dynamically altered from normal, and there are also presets to only decrease detail (never raise it past normal) or to only increase detail (never lower it below normal).

– These options may be manually altered for additional control inside of the “RendererDX11.ini”, in which case the Options screen will show “Customized” for the selected preset. The options are named as follows:

If you use FanaLEDs or another tool to vibrate the pager motor in the pedals you may want to turn off our effect so it does not conflict.

– The “enableG27WheelDisplay” and “enableFanatecWheelDisplay” options in the [Force Feedback] section of the “app.ini” file have been merged together into a new “enableWheelDisplay” option.

Pace Car
Fixed a race control issue where cars that have run ahead in the pace field and are ahead of the leaders as the pace car triggers either “Two to Go” or “One to Go”, can essentially hijack the “lead” of the pace field and trigger race control to throw the Green Flag based on their position, even if they have run half a lap ahead of everyone else, causing a very early Green Flag while the pace car is still on the backstretch.
– – This fix identifies these naughty cars that are ahead of their pacing placement and it will ignore them, preventing the pace car hijacking from taking place.
Flagman
Flagman has received some additional training from a flag-waving grandmaster. He should now transition from yellow to green faster, and be ready with that green!

A new parameter, “joyEnableVibrateThrottleWithPedal=1” has been added to the “[Force Feedback]” section of the “app.ini” file.
– – When set to “0”, this parameter disables the vibration motors on a Fanatec throttle pedal.
Users now have the option to offset the position of n-position rotary switches so you can more easily match the numbers on your knob to the numbers shown on screen.
– – When recalibrating you can now choose to offset the value by +/- 1. This offset is relative to the first position on the switch and not the numbers that may be painted on it. So, a +1 offset would output 1 for the first position rather than 0.

The iRacing Installer has been updated.
– – This fixes a couple of bugs that could degrade a new user’s installation experience.
Connectivity

Fixed an issue that would cause the Simulator to get into a bad state if you connected to a Session using an IPv6 connection and then were forcibly disconnected (either due to a connection issue or because the Session ended and the race server intentionally disconnected you).
Qualifying Conduct Scrutiny

The Qualifying Conduct Scrutiny System has been re-enabled!
A new system is now available to run during Qualifying Sessions to help prevent unrealistic preparation exploits. Generally speaking, the officials expect a driver to pull out under control, get up to speed relatively quickly, and complete their qualifying laps in a timely and controlled manner. In an Open Qualifying Session, some accommodations for slowing are made based on proximity to other racers.
The Qualifying Conduct Scrutiny system first applies a furled Black Flag as a warning to drivers who have not been compliant with the expectations. If the behavior continues, a Black Flag will be issued and the driver will be disqualified from the Qualifying Session.
– – A furled Black Flag warning will be reset when leaving the car, resetting it to the pits, or completing the current lap. However, this does not clear the warning – a second violation will trigger a disqualification from the Qualifying Session.
There are several levels of strictness available for the Qualifying Conduct Scrutiny system. The more strictly the system is being administered, the less leeway is granted to the racers before warnings and penalties are issued.
– – The levels of Qualifying Conduct Scrutiny available are: Off, Permissive, Lenient, Moderate, Strict, and Severe.
– – The strictness level of Qualifying Conduct Scrutiny is customizable for User-Created Sessions from both the iRacing BETA UI and the Classic Membersite.
– – For official sessions, this feature will initially only be applied to select high-level Series.
Qualifying Conduct Scrutiny is only available for use and is only applied for Qualifying sessions at asphalt tracks. There is no effect on tracks partially or completely composed of dirt racing surfaces.
Qualifying Conduct Scrutiny information for an event is visible in the Simulator in the Info tab under “RACE STATUS”. This also includes loaded Replays.
The admin command: “!clear #” may be used to remove a Qualification Conduct Scrutiny disqualification Black Flag.

AI Drivers are now generally less conservative with their fuel strategy.
Fixed an issue where some AI Drivers could swerve to one side quickly after a standing start.
Fixed an issue where the desired starting track state for Qualify and Race Sessions was not being honored.
Fixed an issue where .tga files were not selectable for custom AI Driver paint schemes.

Race Control
Fixed an issue where some drivers could get a black flag when pulling away from a starting grid that is in the pit lane area at the start of a parade lap.
Improved Lucky Dog behavior when a long track’s Cautions are shortened.
A message has been added to the Pacing/Caution popup display that informs a driver if they are the best “Lucky Dog Candidate”.
When Quick Cautions are enabled, the best “Lucky Dog Candidate” now has their pit entrance closed for the first caution lap, to ensure they stay out and take their Lucky Dog wave-around. All other drivers will not have their pit entrance closed.
The extra caution lap shortening that is done for very long ovals is now disabled if all cars are on the lead lap and behind the restart area.

Rendering
Fixed an issue where debris from the New Damage Model could get integrated into the dynamic cubemap, and could cause extreme flickering effects as the debris bounced around the environment.
Optimized the appearance of the area between the edge of the terrain and the start of the sky.

Auto-Exposure Camera System
Improved settings for VR users.
Fixed an issue where the environment map could be displayed too brightly on the entire world, when car mirrors are facing the camera and would pop back to normal brightness when all car mirrors were facing away from the camera, especially with low exposure levels.
Fixed an issue with the race line aid’s color.

Visual Effects
Fireworks displays are no longer used during day-light events.

The digital signature for the “iRacingUI.exe” file has been updated, which should satisfy some picky anti-virus programs.

For the New Damage Model, adjustments have been made to prevent the rear bumper from being able to hook the entire car around. Mount point break limits have been reduced, while maintaining initial strength. Mount point parameters have also been adjusted to allow less physical separation before breaking occurs. The rear fenders were also stiffened slightly.

For the New Damage Model, adjusted the front splitter and nose mounts to prevent bumper damage from curbs.

Track cameras have been upgraded with all new camera types and designs including a Static set and Mixed set which blends together dynamic TV cameras and stationary cameras. Many overlapping cameras are included, which should result in a different result when watching lap after lap. This should provide a more lifelike viewing experience.

Create a Race

Resolved an issue where clicking the “Back” button was not returning to the previous screen.
Teams

A “Register” button has been added to the Registered Teams table of the Team Registration window for an event, so you can Register directly from there.
Resolved an issue where the “Purchase” button was not being displayed when registering for a Team that has selected a car to drive that you do not own.
You can now Spectate for any team you are a part of via the split “Register/Watch” button in both the Team Registration and Team Sessions screens. This is a different role than joining as “Crew” for your team and will not allow you to spot for your team. You should only register as this role if you want to spectate the session and not have the full functionality that being a “crew” member of the team entails.

Dirt Racing

Dirt hardpan water content is now more uniform across the width of the track.
Dirt hardpan water content has been customized at some tracks to alleviate slick spots that sometimes appear in the low line. These tracks include:

Loading
Fixed an issue where some sound scripts were hiccupping during track loading, which could cause some significant delays around the 75% loaded mark.

Race Control
Race Control has been adjusted to consider crossing any pit lane checkpoints as “pitting” for the purposes of any strict scoring events, such as Qualifying or Time Attack. This prevents users from using any areas of pit lane to illegally shorten their lap times.

Penalties
Fixed a bug that was preventing “clear penalty” events from being saved to the database, for display in the Session Events pop-up on the Members website’s Results pages. Please note that penalties were properly being cleared, they were just not being logged to the database for later reference.

AI Racing
In preparation for our upcoming events, the AI Drivers have improved their racing skills at Daytona International Speedway.

Audio
The default audio device has been set to XAudio2 (for fresh app.ini files).

Spotter
Fixed an issue where your spotter incorrectly informs you about low fuel.
Some improvements have been made to some of the Aussie spotter calls.

Fuel Data
Fuel consumption data for predictions is now discarded for imperfect laps including: black flags, pitting, resets, loss of control, towing, or if the race is over.

Driver Display Name
For vehicles that display the driver name anywhere on the vehicle, this value is now directly derived from the values a customer inputs as their First Name and Last Name when signing up for iRacing.
– – If your name is not appearing correctly as an existing member, please contact Customer Service to have it adjusted manually.

The IMSA number board and windshield numbers have returned to the default vehicle paint pattern.
Windshield digits have been improved and adjusted to prevent them from flickering with the windshield.

Fixed an issue where the lower fog lights were locked into IMSA colors.

Spring damper yield and break limits have been rebalanced within the GT4 Class.
Hyundai Elantra N TC
Fixed an issue where the spring/damper strength for this vehicle was significantly lower when compared to the other Touring Class Cars.

Dramatically improved and expanded the format, information, and details that can be found about your License Classes, SR, MPR status, and seasonal promotion status.
This should now be a one-stop-shop for helping you determine everything you might need to know about your License Classes, including:

– – What will happen to your licenses at the end of the season if nothing changes.
– – If you’ve already received a Fast Track Promotion or Reckless Driver Demotion.
– – What you can do to continue improving your License Classes before the end of the season.

Up Next
Fixed an issue where Favorited Cars, Tracks, and Series were not getting properly reflected when applying filters to view the Favorited selections.

Official Series
Resolved an issue in the Series Season schedule where selecting a car from the Car Selection dropdown was causing some images from the schedule to appear over the dropdown selections.

Team Racing
Added an additional tooltip to the Team Driver Registration table that displays to the user that all available team drivers have been added. This is specifically to handle the default Team case of a single driver on a default team.

Heat Racing
Resolved an issue where Warm Up time for a Heat Race could not be set to 0.

Create a Race
Resolved an issue where the default value of the Weight Penalty within the Car Settings popover was incorrect.

AI Racing
Fixed an issue where the Go To Store button was appearing in AI Single Race without having any content selected.

Paint Shop
An informative message has been added to the “Model Options” area for vehicles that do not allow custom paint scheme files.

SIMULATION:
Graphics

NVIDIA Reflex support has been enabled.
– – When enabled in the Graphics options (on the top right), and when the Simulator is GPU-bound, this option reduces Simulator to render latency by enabling low latency mode in the device driver. When enabled with “boost mode” it also keeps the GPU clock rate higher when the Simulator is CPU-bound, which can help a little bit too. Enabling NVIDIA Reflex in the Graphics Options can help reduce this latency, mainly when the Simulator is GPU-bound. When CPU-bound, there is not much Reflex can do.
An additional graphics-related system meter, named “T” has been added to the user interface.
– – The T-Meter measures the total frame time from when the renderer started generating the frame until the GPU completed drawing it. It is not the same as the R + G timer, because the CPU queues frames to the GPU and they can pile up, also the GPU is running in parallel with the CPU.
– – The maximum pre-rendered frame widgets are hidden when Reflex is enabled, since it takes over and keeps it near zero.
The NVIDIA Reflex option is disabled by default if the GPU/driver does not support it.

Spotter
A new setting, “[SPCC] textDurationFactor=1” has been added to the app.ini file.
– – This value is the multiple for the length of time spotter text messages are displayed on the screen (ie: a value of 2 leaves spotter messages on the screen twice as long as the default value of 1).

TrueForce
TrueForce support has been temporarily disabled while we await a patch to GHUB.
– – This was done because TrueForce being enabled will cause the Simulator to fail to close properly.
– – All Logitech G923 users will need to recalibrate their steering.
– – If desired, you can manually turn TrueForce support back on by manually editing the “app.ini” file and setting “[Force Feedback] trueForceEnabledForcedOff=1”.
Reworked Logitech TrueForce support so users will no longer need to recalibrate after the system is enabled/disabled.
– – That’s right! This is hopefully the last time you’ll be forced to recalibrate by an update!

CARS:
Ferrari 488 GT3 Evo 2020

Fixed an issue where the IMSA numbers were black instead of white.

Hyundai Elantra N TC
Fix issue with this vehicle having a corrupt “yaml” telemetry string.
Fixed a texture issue on the trunk area.

Mercedes-AMG GT3
The occurrence frequency of ignition cut backfires has been reduced to a more realistic level.

NASCAR Cup Series Class Cars
Drafting parameters have been updated.

NASCAR Next Gen Class Cars
Drafting parameters have been updated.
Vehicle parameters have been updated slightly to satisfy the latest NASCAR rules packages.
Car specs have been updated based on the latest information from NASCAR. This includes utilizing low downforce and 670 horsepower configurations at all tracks besides Super Speedways.
Fixed an issue with a cyclic modulation in the engine sounds for high RPM.
iRacing setups have been updated.

Porsche 911 RSR
Fixed an issue where the steering column was invisible when this vehicle was viewed in the Paint Shop.

SCCA Spec Racer Ford
Brake bias adjustments are now allowed during Fixed Setup Sessions.

TRACKS:
Charlotte Motor Speedway

Fixed an issue with dark green grass edges.

Daytona International Speedway
Fixed some issues where some off-track surface types were not set properly.
(Road Course) – The time penalty for cutting the Bus Stop has been increased, and tire barriers have been deployed in defensive positions at the Bus Stop to prevent course cutting.
(Road Course) – The sausage curb has been removed.

Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum

The Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, a short asphalt oval, is now available for purchase and racing!
More than 100 years ago, one of the United States’ most iconic sporting venues was commissioned as a memorial to veterans of World War I. Since then, the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum has hosted just about every event imaginable, from the Summer Olympics (three times as of 2028, which will become a record for any facility at that time) to the Super Bowl, and has served as the home stadium for numerous professional and college sports teams in football, baseball, soccer, and rugby. The stadium has even hosted dozens of major off-road motorsport events, with trucks and cars jumping in and out of the Coliseum entrance every lap.
In 2022, NASCAR became the latest major league sport to join the venue’s legacy with the Busch Light Clash at the Coliseum. A quarter-mile circuit constructed within stadium walls will see the annual preseason all-star race of the NASCAR Cup Series leave Daytona for the first time. The track was designed and tested by iRacing in cooperation with NASCAR in advance of the unique event, with top real-world and sim racing pros all logging countless laps before both its release on iRacing and real-world debut. The change in venue also leads to a change in format, with qualifying heats to build the feature grid in a manner similar to a local short track race.
